Thank you for your interest in the Interfaith Dinner Club coordinated by the Interfaith Student Leaders and the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life. These gatherings will be an opportunity to meet fellow Kalamazoo College students from diverse religious and spiritual traditions and engage in meaningful fellowship, learning, and great dining.
The mission of Kalamazoo College is to prepare its graduates to better understand, live successfully within, and provide enlightened leadership to a richly diverse and increasingly complex world. We believe that no one can provide enlightened leadership before first identifying their own religious location and knowing the ways their perspectives are shaped by this background. Similarly, our diverse and complex world requires the ability to act appropriately across religious and spiritual difference. We hope to begin exploring these and other important aspects of interfaith engagement at the dinner club.
The Interfaith Dinner Club will meet three times this quarter, beginning with a day retreat, and then for two hours on two Wednesday evenings as indicated on the application form. Some preparation will be required for each meeting, although no more than one hour of preparation will be required. If you are interested in applying to be a participant of the dinner club, please check your calendar to be sure that you will be able to attend all of the meetings. Then complete and sign the (very brief) attached form and return it to the Office of the Chaplain by 5 p.m. on Monday September 26, 2016. The Office of the Chaplain is located in the Cavern –the basement of Stetson Chapel. Questions about the club can be directed to the Chaplain by email or phone.
Since space is limited, we will review the applications and fashion a team that reflects religious and spiritual diversity from the applicant pool. We will then notify all applicants about our decisions regarding the composition of the dinner club no later than Friday September 30th.
